25 000 décès par an en Europe à cause de la résistance aux antibiotiques

Each year, over 25 000 people die in Europe from a bacterial infection resistant to antibiotics, according to a report released February 11, 2016 by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Prevention and Disease Control (ECDC).

High MDR multidrug
Indeed, numerous bacteria in humans, in animals and in food continue to show resistance antibiotiquesles most commonly used.
The prevalence of MDR (multidrug resistance) reveals himself in human high bacteria (26%), and meat of chicken and turkey (24.8% and 30.5%).
Some Salmonella bacteria are also quite worrying because they show both a high level of resistance to ciprofloxacin (widely used antimicrobial) and multidrug resistance to multiple drugs.

Antimicrobial resistance: the most affected countries
Among the most affected countries, Eastern Europe and South America. Countries further north, which use less antibiotics in animals, are in turn less affected. In France, the government is slow to act even if it has recognized the problem.

"This is a global problem that requires a solution at the global level," said vytenis andriukaitis, European Commissioner for health and food security.
